I feel like that's a reference to something, but I can't quite place it.

Nah, it's just how the Gem Destabilizers are a one-hit kill, just like the Finger of Death spell. If you put it in a wand, you are basically poking things to death.

Oh, that makes sense. Finger of Death spell is I think what I was trying to think of.

Hmmm... with 'pip' dice you couldn't get negative results... but I suppose you could with 'numeral' dice. I suppose that's why it works best with d6's, which tend to be 'pip' dice.

Another weird result that's possible is getting NO numbers/pips both face-up and clear. I guess in Shadowrun that's a failed roll but in other systems I don't even know what you'd call that. You'd have to invoke something like the 'cat rule': an example of a rule covering weird situations, the 'cat rule' was submitted by a reader to Knights of the Dinner Table and states that if a cat (or other pet) intercepts a rolled dice, you must wait for the cat to finish playing with it to determine the roll: it then is whatever result the cat leaves it at.

With the 'cat rule', I would train my cat to play with my dice when I throw them and always drop them with the highest result up.

And I would be recording the adorableness of your trained dice rolling cat.

Who's Micah?
From another Campaign comic? Or foreshadowing?

This technique confirms the CC world runs on Yugioh Logic tho!

I still don’t understand the d-infinity. “Altering the face of the die” “rendering them unusable afterwards”

This sounds kind of like peeling the stickers off of a Rubik’s cube to win. Is Finn physically altering the dice in some way?

Tom’s right, we need to find Micah, because apparently he’s some sort of reality warping, fourth wall shattering, physics breaking, dice Wizard.
